Big thank you!

Church organ (Christ the King)

We offer many thanks to two of our organists who have recently decided that their time at the keyboard is up. Sian O’Donnell at Christ the King and Marie York at St Brigid’s have both given long service in this important ministry of music. Not only have they played beautifully, but they have taken their whole ministry conscientiously, making sure that the music fits the liturgy each week, and putting in extra time for practices etc whenever required. Inevitably this leaves gaps so please consider whether God has given you a gift of music that could be used for his glory, and if so, please let Fr Matthew know as soon as possible.

Welcome Bishop Tom Burns!

Dear friends and parishioners,

Over the next three Sundays we welcome Bishop Tom Burns to help us while Fr Peter and Fr Matthew have some time off.

Born in Northern Ireland, he was educated and eventually joined the Marist Order. In 1986 he became a Chaplain to the Forces, eventually being ordained Bishop of the Forces in 2002.

Six years later he became Bishop of Menevia until his retirement in 2019.

We give him a warm welcome!

Fr Matthew

Grand prayers

Dear friends and parishioners

Monday is the feast of Sts Joachim and Anne, the parents of Mary and therefore the grandparents of Jesus himself. So, it would be a good day to pray for our own grandparents – and grandchildren! Sadly, all four of my own grandparents were already deceased when I was born, but I will still pray for Annie and Tim, for Dan and Edie. What about you?
