Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)

The RCIA is the Catholic Church’s process for welcoming people who are interested in becoming Catholics. We have catechists to accompany enquirers on their journey of faith, or you can speak to our priests.

Are you somebody (or do you know somebody) interested in exploring  becoming a Christian, and maybe joining the Catholic Church? If so, we have a programme specially designed for you.

It involves taking part in a series of friendly and informal one-to-one or mall group meetings, usually once a week, over the period from autumn through to Easter.  The group brings together members of the parish with others, like you, who may be exploring the Christian faith and / or considering joining the Catholic Church.

While the meetings are structured to cover the main points in Christian faith, the emphasis is on sharing experience and learning through discussion.  And while the Catholic Church is happy to welcome new members, it is entirely up to you, if you join an RCIA group, as to whether you choose to go forward and seek membership of the Catholic, or any other church, or none.
