Laudato Si

Dear friends and parishioners

The Bishops of England and Wales have issued a joint pastoral letter for Pentecost on Creation. The document “Laudato Si” of Pope Francis reminded us that this is a vital part of our faith and understanding of the reality in which we live. I encourage us all to listen at Mass or read on our website here what they have to say.

Archbishop George Stack’s landmark celebrations

Dear friends and parishioners

Last Sunday His Grace the Archbishop, George Stack, celebrated his 75th birthday. It is at this point that bishops are to offer their resignation – but it does not have to be accepted by Rome, based on health, circumstances etc. He also celebrated 20 years as a bishop.

As he, and we, await a response from Rome, we congratulate him on these landmarks, and remember him in our prayers as he too continues on his journey of faith.

The Ascension

Dear friends and parishioners

This Thursday the Church remembers the Ascension of Our Lord into heaven. The obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and Holidays is still lifted, and attendance on a day other than Sunday is seen as equivalent. In a similar way, please note that the Mass on Wednesday at St Paul’s will also be a Mass for the Ascension.

Our Lady

Our Lady

Dear friends and parishioners

We are already at the month of May the month of Our Lady, and maybe wondering where 2021 has gone. Let’s use this month to help us renew our devotion to Mary. We call her Mother of the Church, so let’s commend ourselves, our families and loved ones, our parishes and our world to her maternal protection.
