Pastoral Advisory Council | 3 Churches in Cardiff

The 3 Churches Pastoral Advisory Council came into being in October 2025. It replaces the previous Parish Councils for Christ the King and St Brigid’s with St Paul’s. Finance and Buildings issues are now dealt with separately by the Finance and Buildings Committees for each of the 2 parishes.

The role of the Council is to help the Parish Priest to discern, encourage and inspire the pastoral life of our Churches and to assist him with oversight of all pastoral matters. .

The Council is made up of the clergy and 4 representatives from each church. The Parish Priest is also able to nominate up to 2 co-opted members. Apart from the clergy, the period of appointment for members is 2 years. The Council meets 6 times a year (that is every 2 months) and will hold an open reporting meeting with members of the 3 Churches community each July. The hope is that the Council will aid coordination of existing activities, help fill gaps and enable better sharing of resources, human and otherwise. In doing this it will be extending what is happening already in our churches where so much is already shared. The areas of pastoral life which the Council will focus on include safeguarding, liturgy, evangelisation, spirituality, catechesis, outreach, engagement of children and young people, social activities, communications, links with the local Catholic schools and ecumenism. Each lay member of the Council has been assigned one of these areas to link with. The intention is that the link person will liaising with those already working in that area and, as appropriate, help to develop existing and new initiatives.
