Christ the King Bidding Prayers for the 8th Sunday of Year C, 2019

Priest: Acknowledging our weakness we come before the Father to ask for healing and growth in His love.

Reader: The response to our prayers is “Hear our prayer”

As we approach Lent may the Church, our parish and ourselves respond to the Pope’s call to renew our hearts through repentance, conversion and forgiveness..

Pause

Merciful Father: Hear our prayer. 

We pray for world peace, especially at this time between India and Pakistan.

Pause

Merciful Father: Hear our prayer. 

May our society find a way to rescue and support those young people involved in gangs and drug running, and also to help remedy those family and other circumstances that make children and young people vulnerable to exploitation.

Pause

Merciful Father: Hear our prayer.

We pray for Arthur James Calnan and Delyth Itoro who are being baptised this weekend; may the seed of faith grow and flourish in their lives, nurtured by their family and god-parents.

Pause

Merciful Father: Hear our prayer

We remember Lilian Dyer, John Hall and Evelyn Trueman who have died recently; receive them into the joy of Your kingdom, and comfort those who grieve for them.

Pause

Merciful Father: Hear our prayer.

In the silence of our hearts we pray for all our other needs.

We ask Mary, our mother, to join our prayers to her own, us as we say

Hail Mary ….

Priest: Heavenly Father, we ask you to look with kindness on our petitions for our growth and the growth of the world in your loving service. We ask You this through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Christ the King Bidding Prayers for the 6th Sunday in Ordinary Time, 2019

PRIEST – Let us turn to God our Father and ask Him to look favourably on all the needs of the world, the Church and ourselves.

Reader – We pray for the Church throughout the world that she may always be true to the teaching of Jesus in guiding your people…………..Lord hear us…….

As this weekend we remember the need for racial justice, we pray that we will always treat others as brothers and sisters irrespective of their race or country of origin………….Lord hear us………..

Let us pray for the repose of the souls of all who have died recently and for the comfort of their families and friends……………….Lord hear us……………

We  remember in our prayers those who are ill, infirm or disabled in any way that they may experience the healing comfort of God and have compassionate care………….Lord hear us…………..

In a few moments of silence we place our own needs before our Heavenly Father……………..Lord hear us

We now ask Mary our Mother to join our prayers with hers as we say……………..

Hail Mary…

Christ the King Bidding Prayers for the 4th Sunday in Ordinary Time, 2019

Priest: We turn to the Lord, our help and our refuge, and ask him for all we need.

Reader: We pray for the leaders of the Church, that they will continue to proclaim the word of God to all people, and inspire us to speak up for our beliefs, even though we might fear ridicule and rejection.

Lord hear us, Lord graciously hear us.

Reader: In these uncertain times, we pray for all who govern, that they will have a special concern to protect the weak, the poor and the most disadvantaged in our world.

Lord hear us, Lord graciously hear us.

Reader: We pray for the gift of love: that we may love one another as Jesus has loved us and radiate warmth and friendliness to those around us.

Lord hear us, Lord graciously hear us.

Reader: We pray for the sick, the elderly and housebound, and those in any sort of distress, may they know the healing power of God’s love. We remember especially, Shaun Stone, who will be undergoing transplant surgery this coming week, receiving a kidney from his mother Jane.  May they both make a healthy and speedy recovery.

Lord, hear us, Lord graciously hear us.

Reader: We pray for those who have died, that through their faith in Christ, they may be welcomed into God’s kingdom. We remember especially Gerald Dunleavy who has died recently.

Together we ask for the intercession of Our Blessed Lady as we say

Priest: Heavenly Father, confident in your saving help, we offer you all our prayers through Jesus, your Son, who lives and reigns with you, forever and ever. Amen.

Christ the King Bidding Prayers for the 3rd Sunday of the year, 2019

In to-day’s reading we are reminded of how together we all form the body of Christ and how we are required to fulfil whatever role the Father has devised for us. Accordingly we turn again to the Father for guidance as to how we should live out Christ’s law

Our response is “Lord we call upon your mercy

We pray for the worldwide church remembering especially our brothers and sisters in Syria and the Middle East who live in constant danger because they choose to follow Christ

PAUSE

We pray……Lord, we call upon your mercy

Tonight many will sleep on the streets of Cardiff and other cities because they are homeless .We pray for them and the agencies and individuals who work to relieve their plight

PAUSE

We pray….Lord we call upon your mercy

We remember now all the deceased of our Three Churches and mention especially Therese Cunliffe and Valentino Rascon who died recently. May the Lord greet them joyfully and may their friends be comforted in their time of loss

PAUSE

We  pray…..Lord we call upon your mercy

 

 

 

 

We listen with concern to the discussions between Britain and The European Union regarding our withdrawal and pray for a just and equitable solution which will recognise the needs of all including refugees who struggle to make  homes in a strange country

We pray………Lord we call upon your mercy

 

 

For a few moments let us listen in our hearts to the voice of our Loving Father

We ask Mary ,our mother, to take up our concerns and join us in our prayers saying Hail Mary ….etc

 

 

 

Heavenly Father, listen to our petitions and and grant them through Jesus your Beloved Son who lives in glory with You and the Holy Spirit forever . AMEN

Christ the King Bidding Prayers for Epiphany, 6 January 2019

Priest: God the Father reveals to all the nations that Christ, his son, is to be their Saviour. Confident in his great love for us all – from kings to the poorest of the poor – we voice our needs and the needs of the world.

Reader: We pray for the Church, and for all bishops, priests and religious who bring the light of the gospel to those in darkness.      

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer

Reader: We pray for world leaders.  In these times of fear and tension, may they be less concerned with retribution and domination and more interested in cooperation and dialogues for peace.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Reader:   We pray for the poor and needy, and the helpless. Let us hear their cry and be the ones to help them, especially those suffering famine and natural disasters.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Reader:   Let us pray for ourselves, that we may joyously follow our Infant King and bring the light of his love to all we meet.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Reader:   We pray for all our family and friends that have died, may they rest in peace in the light of God’s glory, and may those who mourn be comforted. We remember especially Paul Grant whose funeral will take place here this week.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Now we ask for the intercession of Our Blessed Lady as we say – Hail Mary…. 

Let us pray for a while in silence, remembering our own needs and the needs of our families.

Priest: Loving Father, hear the prayers that we make in faith and grant us your blessing. We ask this through Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen.
